LIFE HISTORY for ALBERT QUISTORFF
Albert Quistorff, age 88 of Sauk Centre passed away early Tuesday morning at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, MN.
Albert Henry Hermann Quistorff was born on June 30, 1918 in Todd County, MN to Emil and Clara (Glockzin) Quistorff. He grew up on a farm and worked as a farmhand until serving his country in the United States Army. He worked his way up to being a Staff Sergeant in the Company D, 163rd Infantry. He was in the Papua, New Guinea and southern Philippines campaigns and received several medals and ribbons. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. After Albert returned to Minnesota, he worked as a service station assistant. He was married to Bernice Olson on February 12, 1955 at the First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Albert worked as a service and parts salesman for Cash Urness, O'Gara, Welle, GTC and Car Quest over the years. He retired in 1984. Albert was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Sauk and worked as caretaker there for over 32 years. He was also a member of the Sauk Centre VFW Post #2853 and served on the Silver Creek Cemetery board for many years.
Some of Albert's hobbies included camping, fishing,hunting and traveling. He was always working on a car engine of some kind and also liked to work out in the yard, especially if he could be mowing. He loved animals, especially his dog, Bear. Playing Canasta with his buddies was another past time he enjoyed. Albert was a kind and caring husband, father, grandpa and brother who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Quistorff of New Munich; 2 daughters, Kay Quistorff of Washington, DC and Geraldine (James) Haskins of Shoreview; 2 granddaughters, Julie (Scott) Bany of Holmes City and Tracy (Erin) Cunningham of Brooklyn Park; 6 great grandchildren, Kyle, Samantha, Danielle and Tyler Bany, Alexus & Jake Cunningham; 3 brothers, Arnold (Lois) Quistorff of Sauk Centre, Orville (Thelma) Quistorff of Osakis, John (Audrey) Quistorff of Sauk Centre; a sister, Mabel Trierweiler of Sauk Centre; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a stepson, Dennis Aspaas and his nephews, David and Wayne Quistorff, sister, Marcella Gettel; brothesr-in-law, Walter Gettel and George Trierweiler, Sr.
Funeral services for Albert were held on Friday,October 27, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Kevin Born officiating. Musicians were organist, Darlene Alveshere and soloist, Dana Hetland. The interment was at the Silver Creek Cemetery and military honors were provided by the Sauk Centre VFW Post. Honorary pallbearers were the Sauk Centre VFW members, the nurses and aides at Pine Villa Care Center, Dr. Kurt Schwieters and Clara Nathe. Active bearers were Andy, Mike, Jim, Daniel, Mark and Donaled Quistorff, Gerald Gettel and George Trierweler, Jr.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
