Audrey Elaine Collins

On June 13, 1934 Gerald and Flavia (Schultz) Olson welcomed a daughter into their lives in Gordon Township, Todd County, MN. They named her Audrey Elaine Olson. Audrey grew up on a farm outside of Osakis and attended Osakis high school before graduating in 1952. Shortly after high school she met a young man by the name of Lowell Collins. The two fell in love and were married on October 19, 1957 and spent the next 63 years of their lives together. During that time, Lowell and Audrey enjoyed taking road trips around the country and spending time with their family. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Audrey was a homemaker at heart and she took great care of her family. Their home in Osakis was across from the school so her kids would walk home for lunch and Audrey would always have a meal waiting for them. She enjoyed hosting family events like Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s. She had a love of crocheting and cross stitch and she made beautiful blankets for all her great grandchildren’s births as well as beautiful doilies and afghans for her children and grandchildren.  Her gardening skills are also worth mentioning because her garden was always so bright and beautiful. Audrey left this life for her new one on December 1, 2022 at the age of 88 from the Galeon in Osakis, MN.

Audrey is survived by her children, Dennis Collins of Osakis, Keith (Sandra) Collins of Charlotte, NC, Jean Akervik of Kensington and Dawn (Gary) Niehaus of Rosemount; 9 grandchildren; 25 gt grandchildren; 4 gt gt grandchildren.

She will be welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Lowell Collins; parents, Gerald and Flavia (Shultz) Olson; siblings; daughter-in-law, Brenda Collins and Jean's soulmate, Tony Hammitt.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Fitzer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Roy-Hetland Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Gordon Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casketbearers are her nine grandchildren, Joy (Ryan) Larson, Sara Blaser, John Collins, Melissa and Gabriella Solorzano, Amy (Greg) Friedrichs, Eric (Catherine) Akervik, Krista (Anthony) Tapio and Steven (Jamie) Niehaus.
