Bernice Clark, age 87, formerly of Osakis went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from her home in Lino Lakes, MN with her family by her side.
Bernice Adeline Elven was born on May 2, 1929, in Osakis, MN to Peter and Alida (Swenson) Elven. She married Douglas G. Clark on June 21, 1945. Bernice was a wonderful wife and mother who took great pride in her only daughter, Sharon. She had a large garden each year and filled the basement pantry with canned goods to last the winter. She was a talented seamstress and spent hours working on projects at her sewing machine while listening to her favorite artists, Jim Reeves and Charley Pride. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and patiently taught her daughter these crafts. Bernice was an avid reader and especially liked to read about the Southwest. She traveled to Arizona and was awed by the Grand Canyon, and also enjoyed exploring the North Shore and Duluth. She loved board games (Aggravation and Monopoly) and playing cards (Canasta and Rummy). She loved playing dice with neighbors Ed and Agnes. After Doug passed away, Bernice worked for a time doing Home Health housekeeping. In 1997, Bernice moved from Osakis to be closer to her daughter. She lived for several years at Pine Manor in Circle Pines, and has lived in her apartment at Lino Lakes Assisted Living since 2013. During her time in the Cities, she met her good friend Dick and they spent time playing dominoes, going out to eat, and traveling to Duluth, Arizona, and California.
She was a kindhearted, loving mother and friend who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
Bernice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Ed Anstett of Fridley, and special friend, Dick Tollefson of Circle Pines. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Stanley Elven, and sister Alice Benedict.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis with Chad Schwanke officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment is at the West Evergreen Cemetery next to her husband.
