Calvin Stueve, age 63 of Alexandria, MN passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 comfortably in his home with family by his side.
Calvin Gene Stueve was one of six children born to Gene and Judith (Hanke) Stueve. He was born on December 18, 1957 in Sauk Centre, MN. As a young boy he moved with his family to a farm north of Osakis and attended Osakis Public Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1976. Gifted with working with his hands, Calvin learned the trade of doing carpentry work and joined the Carpenter’s Union in St. Paul. He worked in the Twin Cities until 1980, when he moved to Las Vegas, NV. In addition to doing carpentry work, Calvin also picked up extra jobs doing maintenance and bartending. While in Vegas, he enjoyed participating in semi-professional arm wrestling. Calvin returned to Minnesota in 1986, this time working for the Anoka Carpenters Union. He spent over fifteen years working in the building industry until health issues required an early retirement in 2002. In order to live closer to his family, Calvin returned home and eventually bought a place in Alexandria, MN.
Calvin was a member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed partaking in card games, especially Whist tournaments. He was a handyman who also found a way to recycle many items. He would repurpose them and give them new life. He could fix nearly anything if given the time and tools. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle and will live on in hearts of his family and friends.
Calvin is survived by his mother, Judy Stueve of Carlos; his brothers and sisters, John (Barb) Stueve of Loretto, MN, Cindy Stueve of Alexandria, Brenda (Don) Henneman of Alexandria, MN, Kathy Stueve of Alexandria and Jim (Christi) Stueve of Osakis, MN; 9 nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews; his partner in crime, Gail Murray of Carlos, MN.
Preceding him in death is his father, Gene Stueve (who passed away in 1995) and a niece, Samantha Jo and great nephew, Lucas.
