Carolyn Ann Holty, age 77 of Rose Creek, formerly of Osakis passed into her new life on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 from Mayo St.Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
On July 3, 1943 a baby girl was born to Clinton and Victoria (Jensen) Mikkelson in Gordon Township, Todd County, MN. She was one of seven children and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Osakis High School in 1961. She spent her career working in food service management for various schools in Oklahoma City before returning to her home town of Osakis in 2007. Carolyn loved to be back with her family helping on the farm, and tending to all the kitties. Carolyn was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, enjoyed singing with the choir and belonged to the Ladies Aide. She also was active with the Osakis VFW Auxiliary. After selling the family farm, Carolyn moved to Rose Creek MN to be closer with her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carolyn loved life and enjoyed being active. She loved to go on polka trips with all of her dancing friends, and take part in high school volleyball and basketball games. She was a true sports fan who enjoyed watching football and also enjoyed Nascar racing. She enjoyed cross-stiching and made many beautiful projects over the years. Each year Carolyn raised a bountiful garden of flowers and vegetables and then spent each fall doing hours of canning and baking. She was a very proud grandmother who loved to spoil her nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Christy) Clay of Rochester, MN, Pamela (Steven) Hauge of Elgin, MN, Denise (Rodney) Peterson of Albert Lea, MN and Nicole (Jeremy) Vlcek of Eau Claire, WI; 9 grandchildren, Adam, Tanner, Jamie, Seth, Brooklyn, Jared, Jasmine, Eli & Emery; 8 great grandchildren, Rhea, Zoie, Jali, Chance, Owen, Hailee, Brock & Jack; siblings, Minnie (Jim) Jezierski of St. Louis Park, Dorothy (Ronald) Paulson of Sauk Rapids, Gary (Ginny) Mikkelson and Karen (Mark) Ferris, all of Osakis, Clinton Leroy (Sherrie) Mikkelson of Hastings, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
