LIFE HISTORY FOR CECELIA MAUS
Cecelia Maus, age 85 of Osakis died on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN.
Cecelia was born on December 13, 1922 in Osakis, MN to William and Olive (Sizer) Dunn. She was married on October 28, 1947 to Clarence B. Maus at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis. Cecelia worked for Sprint Telephone for over forty years, retiring on October 1, 1983. She and her husband lived near Battle Point on Lake Osakis until moving to a home on Pike Street in Osakis in 1990. Cecelia was a lifetime member of the Immaculate Conception parish in Osakis.
Traveling, snowmobiling and going fishing were some of Cecelia's favorite past times. She kept active during the wintertime by bowling, playing cards with friends and family and going to area dances. She was a devoted Twins baseball fan and was very supportive of all of her many nieces and nephews as they participated in high school sports. She was a great cook and did a lot of canning from the produce her garden supplied each season. Cecelia enjoyed people and socializing, and especially liked to go to the casinos or try her luck at pull tabs.
Cecelia is survived by her beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws, Angie Dunn, Ruby Maus and Harold & Gloria Maus
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence on February 28, 1999; two brothers, Raymond and Thomas Dunn.
A Mass of Resurrection was held for her on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception church in Osakis with Fr. Ralph Zimmerman officiating. Musicians are the church funeral choir and a eulogy was given by Jim Fearing. Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery in Osakis. Pallbearers are her nephews, Mike, Pat, Dan and Dick Dunn, Dale Waldvogel, Bob Zimmel and Jim Fearing. Honorary bearers were Vicki Mikkelson, Mike & Lucille Barber, Delores Trisko, Mavis Maher, Sharon Fearing, Darlene & Sherwood Mikkelson.
