Cheryl Ann Didier was born April 21, 1951, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Nicholas and Joan (Rehkamp) Didier. She graduated from Osakis High School in 1969. Cheryl went to work for Sauk Centre Telephone Company and later she moved to the Cities and worked at Qwest Telephone Company. In 2000, Cheryl moved to Detroit Lakes as an IT Specialist for Qwest. She later worked as a PARA Professional at the public school, as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home also and the Crisis Center. Cheryl returned back to Osakis in 2018 and worked at Osakis Public School as a custodian. Five years ago, she started working as a cashier and service writer at Mike’s In and Out Oil Change in Alexandria. She also was a personal care giver to Lily, and helping make handicap ramps for individuals to help them get into their home.
Cheryl volunteered for the Department of Natural Resources and the International Series of Champions (ISOC) snowmobile races where she worked races throughout the state. She had a love of kayaking, and would always find an open body of water on her birthday to start off the kayaking year. Cheryl enjoyed making jewelry, watching birds and deer, horseback riding, and stock car racing. She loved helping in the pits at the races and had a talent of working on the stock cars, which proved to be instrumental in the success of the race teams she helped. Most importantly was Cheryl’s family, and loved going to the nieces and nephews school activities.
Cheryl died unexpectedly from natural causes on Monday, January 9, 2023, at her home in Osakis at the age of 71. She is survived by her siblings, Darryl (Vicki) Didier of Ft. Myers, FL, Terryl (David) Friedrichs of Sauk Centre, Carryl (Doug) Vickerman of Nelson, Gerryl “Fritz” (Sharon) Didier of Osakis, Larryl “Huntz (Julie) Didier of Osakis, Beryl (Dann) Blank of Sauk Centre, Meryl (Shelly) Didier of Albany, and Earyl “Punky” (Barb) Didier of Osakis. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents Nick and Joan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM with parish prayers at 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
