Clem Boyum

Clem Boyum, age 95, of Shawano, WI, formerly of Inver Grove Heights and Osakis, MN passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 at The Cottages Memory Care in Shawano, WI.
On August 15, 1919 in Napolean, North Dakota a little boy was born to Henry and Selma (Carlson) Boyum. He attended St. Paul Vocational School and also worked for over three years with the Civil Conservation Corps. Clem then took work as a farm hand on various farms in Minnesota. For several years Clem did mechanic work in St. Paul, MN and then in 1957, he was hired by School District 199 in Inver Grove Heights. He was employed there for over twenty-four years, retiring in 1981. At that time, Clem was united in marriage to Jean Scott West. They enjoyed traveling in their retirement and eventually settled in Osakis, MN where they enjoyed the opportunity to live near a lake and enjoy small town life. Some of Clem's hobbies included hunting, fishing, especially his trips to Alaska, gardening (he especially enjoyed raising cabbages and making sauerkraut), camping and reading. He enjoyed people and socializing.
Clem is survived by a son, Edward Boyum of So. St. Paul and a daughter, Jane (Doug) Obert of Inver Grove Heights, MN; 4 grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth (Rose) Boyum of Bejou, MN; several stepchildren; special nephew, Kenneth Boyum; his nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, six brothers, Adrien, Melvin, Albert, Fred, Roy and Philip Boyum; a sister, Lillian Carlson.
Funeral services for Clem will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 2 pm at the Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson, MN with Rev. Jeremy Pedersen. Interment is at the church cemetery in Nelson, MN. A visitation and gathering time will begin at the church one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are being handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
