Dale LeRoy Hagen

Dale Hagen passed away on February 6, 2025 at the Galeon in Osakis, Minnesota. 

Dale LeRoy Hagen was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 2, 1949 and was welcomed home by parents LeRoy A. and Alyce (Hanson) Hagen. Dale was baptized at Sauk Valley Lutheran Church of rural Osakis. He was later joined by siblings Carol and Daniel. He attended country school before attending Osakis public school, interrupted by a brief period in Castle Rock, Washington where he and his family moved for a year and a half. He was confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Castle Rock, Washington. 

While his family returned to Osakis, Dale’s restless nature was never well-suited to farm life. He soon moved to Minneapolis with friends, where he would later earn his GED. Like many young men before him, Dale headed west, settling for many years in California. He worked many jobs, spending time driving trucks, working in factories, and laboring as a roughneck in the Oklahoma oil fields. 

Dale would eventually find his way back to Minnesota, where he would spend the last decade and a half of his life. He reconnected with old friends, met new ones, and married Deb Hagen, the mother of his children Brandon and Raquel. 

Though he faced many challenges in this life, Dale rarely went long without a smile on his face. He was quick to laugh and loved any opportunity to visit, as his caregivers can attest. He loved to regale friends and family, particularly his nephews, with tales of his childhood travels, several of which were even pretty factual.

Dale is survived by his wife Deb; children April (Christine), Brandon, and Raquel; grandchildren Megan, Triva, Peyten, Eli, Jerrica, and Brooklyn; sister Carol (Bill); brother Daniel (Dorte); several nieces and nephews and close friend Greg Wells. 

Funeral service will be held at Sauk Valley Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 1 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
