Daniel Otto Rooney

Daniel Otto Rooney was born August 28, 1947, at home in Osakis, Minnesota to Stephen and Ruby (nee Ensign) Rooney.  Dan was the thirteenth of fifteen children and graduated from Osakis High School in 1965. He was a Marine who fought in the Vietnam War and came back home as a decorated veteran. Dan worked in the field of construction and was a member of Local 563. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his time in the outdoors. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend. He and his beloved wife, Pam were fortunate enough to have 27 years together. 

Dan died peacefully on September 16, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He will be incredibly missed by his wife, Pamela; his son Daniel (Jess); his stepchildren, Anne and Greg (Karen); his grandchildren, Casey, Wesley, Sabrina and Matthew; his siblings, Sr. Rose Mary, Alice, Kathleen, and John; and his many beloved nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lorraine, Genevieve, Lawrence, Patricia, Jane, Stephen, Patrick, Thomas, Michael, and William. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

A Celebration of Dan's life will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the VFW in Osakis, Minnesota.  Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Osakis VFW Post #7902.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Osakis, Minnesota.
