Darin Sorenson

Darin Sorenson, age 38 of Alexandria left this life for his new Heavenly home on Saturday, Nov. 1 from the Douglas Co Hospital in Alexandria. Funeral services are Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 11:00 am at the New Life Christian Church in Alexandria with a gathering time beginning at 10 am. Musicians are Sue Ronning, Wayne Claassen, Fred Walter, Judy and Shawn Fridgen. Interment is at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Carlos, MN with honorary bearers being all of the caregivers from Cedar House in Alexandria. Active bearers are Brady Peterson, Adam & Devyn Hansen, Colby and Bailey Sorenson, Shawn Fridgen. Interment is at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Carlos, MN.

Life History for Darin
Darin Sorenson was born on January 24, 1976 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN. He was welcomed into the family by his parents, Dale and Norma (Judd) Sorenson and his sisters. Because of his cerebral palsy, Darin needed special care, but he was able to turn any gifts of kindness shown to him into moments of grace for those who were blessed to know him. Although he didn't speak in words, he was still able to reveal to those around him the love he had inside. God's plan for Darin was to teach others to be grateful for the gifts we were given and for sharing and showing His divine compassion to others. He had big brown eyes and a contagious smile and a big, deep laugh that could warm any heart. From the beginning, Darin had a 'need for speed' and was always happiest when he could ride on go-carts, the riding lawn mower or just get pushed in his wheelchair as fast as possible. He loved to be outdoors and shook his wheelchair in delight when he could be out and on the go. Because he also especially liked to listen to rock music, his family would tease how he liked loud music, fast cars and blondes. His favorite foods were mashed potatoes and gravy or a big bowl of ice cream. Those simple things that brought joy to Darin's life reminded us how the love of God and our family is all that is truly necessary for happiness. His life is one to be celebrated and he will stay forever in our hearts.
Darin leaves behind his loving mother, Norma Sorenson of Alexandria; devoted siblings, Missy (Randy) Hansen of Alexandria, Kim (Shawn) Peterson of Elbow Lake and Jason (Jennie) Sorenson of Starbuck; 10 nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins. Also the many wonderful caregivers that greatly enhanced his life with love and dignity over the years.
Awaiting his arrival in Heaven is his father, Dale Sorenson and his grandparents.
