LIFE HISTORY FOR DONALD BEUMER
Donald Beumer, age 64 of Osakis, formerly of Blaine, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at his home in Osakis, MN.
On March 10, 1950 a son was born to Nickolas and Marthline (Hanisch) Beumer in Minneapolis, MN. They named him Donald Lee. He grew up and attended Anoka High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. On January 17, 1970, Don married Claire Sexton in Robbinsdale, MN. With an interest in interior design, Donald was hired by LaFrance Fabrics as a sales representative. He worked for the company until they closed their business and then he became an independent salesman representing over twenty-five different fabric, drapery, furniture, and carpeting firms. He had accounts in over five states and travelled throughout the Midwest during his sales career. Don bought a cabin in 1985 on Lake Osakis. In 1997, he replaced the cabin with a year-round home. Poor health required him to retire in 2009.
Besides his favorite past time of fishing. He was also an avid professional football fan and looked forward to watching games every weekend. He was very proud of his three grandchildren. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends at his lake home and will be remembered for his hospitality to those who came to visit.
Don is survived by his three daughters, Candace (Charles) Meyer of Andover, Shelley (Tony) Shelton of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Janice (Duane) Hauri of Elk River; 3 grandchildren, Alexandra Nauber, Justin Meyer and Jaxsen Shelton; his mother, Marthline Beumer of New Hope; brothers, Larry (Sherry) Beumer, Darryl Beumer and a sister, Darlene Kaden; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nickolas and his son, Jeffrey Beumer.
Memorial services for Don will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home Chapel in Osakis, MN. A gathering time will begin at the funeral home at 12:00 pm.
