FUNERAL NOTICE for ERVA JENSON
Erva Jenson, age 93 of Osakis passed away on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett, MN. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at the church at 10:00 am. Interment is at the Gordon Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Osakis.
Life History for Erva Jenson -
Erva was born on July 28, 1923 in Montevideo, MN to Gerald and Flavia (Schultz) Olson. She moved with her family to the Osakis area and graduated from Osakis High School in 1943. Erva first went to work for Kreemer Produce candling eggs. She married Ernest Jenson on May 24, 1947 in Osakis. During their 59 years together, the Jenson's lived in Osakis, Barrett, Wendell, Long Prairie and finally Breckinridge before retiring and returning to live in Osakis. Besides raising her children, Erva worked at the 3M plant in Wahpeton and did waitress work throughout her life. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Osakis Lutheran Church and belonged to the Rebekah Circle of their Ladies Aide.
Baking homemade bread and goodies for her family was second nature to Erva. She loved to keep her family supplied with home-cooked meals and did hours of gardening and canning to make sure her cupboards were full. She loved old time music, going dancing and was an avid MN Twins and Vikings fan. She also liked to travel and go out ice fishing. During the winter months she kept busy sewing or quilting.
Erva loved her family and enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren's sporting events and attending their music concerts. She had a kind heart and looked for the good in others. She left a beautiful legacy and was a wonderful mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Gail (Dennis) Villiard of Shawano, WI, Roger (Judy) Jenson of Breezy Point, Marilyn (Ray) Tangen of Rock Springs, WY, Dale (Kathie) Jenson of Moorhead, Darla (Jeff) Johnson of Wendell, Holly (Miles) Gulbranson of East Grand Forks; 15 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; 5 great, great step-grandchildren; siblings, Geraldine (Howard) Beste and Mae Beste, all of Sauk Centre, Joan Stabe of Brooklyn Center, Shirley (Kenneth) Brodsky of Dayton, OH, Audrey (Lowell) Collins, Wayne (Delores) Olson and Judy Jensen, all of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernie in 2007; daughter-in-law, Barb Jenson; step-great granddaughter, Faith Hendrickson; step-grandson, Lonnie Hendrickson; brothers-in-law, Merven Jensen, Norbert Beste and Gene Stabe.
Funeral services for Erva were held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Fitzer officiating. Musicians were organist, Pat Converse and soloist, Dana Hetland. Interment was at the Gordon Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Osakis with casketbearers, Dan Van Heel, Carter Van Heel, Brent Gulbranson, Elizabeth Robertson, Dinah Sommerfeld, Amber Dudgeon, Jena Jenson and Martha Villiard.
