Ethel Pease, age 90 of Osakis passed away on Friday afternoon at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis. Memorial services are Tuesday, March 11 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Reisig officiating. Visitation begins at the church on hour before the service. Burial is at Fr. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
On April 26, 1923 a baby girl named Ethel Mary Alice was born to Charles and Irene (Rickert) Wilson in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Mankato Bethany Lutheran High School. She then attended college for a two year program at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Ethel moved to Minneapolis and was hired by Egquist Bakery. She worked as a manager there for seven years. Her next employment was at Hanson's Drug Store. On May 14, 1946 Ethel was married to Warde Ostlund. After Warde's death in 1956, Ethel met and married Clifton Pease on March 2, 1958and made Osakis their residence. Cliff passed away on Valentine's Day in 1999.
Ethel become a member of the Osakis Lutheran Church and was active with the church's women's association. She also was an auxiliary member of the Osakis VFW and belonged to the Eastern Star and Community Memorial Home Auxiliary.
Some of her favorite hobbies included playing cards, especially Bridge, Smear and Cribbage. She also liked to go fishing, golfing, dancing and to the casino. She and her husband Clif spent many hours each summer tending their large garden and sharing its bounty with neighbors, friends and many townspeople. During the winter months she liked to go ice skating, do latch hook and read and was also a collector of various types of clown and angel figurines. She enjoyed country music and was very fond of her special companion - her cat named Nutmeg.
Ethel is survived by her children, Richard (Cheryl) Ostlund St. Cloud, Linda Blake of Osakis, Errol Ostlund of Alexandria, David Pease of Osakis; stepchildren, Loyis Longfellow of Rifle, CO, Tom (Susan) Pease of Osakis, Nick (Barbara) Pease of Atwater, MN; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 11am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Reisig officiating. Musicians are organist, Pat Converse and soloist, Dana Hetland. Inurmment is at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN next to Warde. Honorary bearers are the Osakis VFW Auxiliary and members of the Eastern Star.
