Faye Tenhoff, age 66 of Osakis entered into her new life on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 from the Knute-Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, MN after a brave battle with brain cancer.
A beautiful baby girl was born to James and Phyllis (Wilde) Schmidt on May 17, 1950 in Milroy, MN. They named her Fayette Marie and she was the oldest of their seven children. The family moved to a farm south of Osakis where Faye graduated from Osakis High School with the Class of 1968. She attended Alexandria Technical College and received her associate degree in office management. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Tenhoff on October 10, 1970 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis where they were both members. Faye worked at 3M in Alexandria until her and Jim started their family of five. Faye was a stay-home mother until she took a position at the Food N Fuel convenience store. After working there for a number of years Faye then took a bank teller position at the First National Bank of Osakis eventually transitioning into the roll of Excutive Secretary. She was a member of the Osakis VFW Auxiliary and belonged to the Osakis Christian Mothers.
Faye had many talents and enjoyed tackling new projects. She loved to do photography, crocheting, gardening, and was an avid reader. She loved watching the many hummingbirds around her feeders and always had beautiful flowers in her yard all summer long. She was an excellent cook who loved to bake treats for her family. Faye was very well known for her cake decorating skills and provided beautiful cakes for many occasions. While Faye enjoyed animals her heart belonged to her dog, Missy. Faye was a huge Osakis Silverstreaks fan and faithfully attended any event in which her grandchildren where participants.
Faye's legacy of kindness, her welcoming smile, and her passion for her husband, children, and grandchildren will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 46 years, Jim Tenhoff of Osakis; children, Shari (Jeffrey) Klukken of Osakis, Craig (Stacy) Tenhoff of Appleton, Kari (James) Soderholm of Osakis, Brent (Sarah) Tenhoff of Lakewood, CO, Dana (Megan) Tenhoff of Maplewood, MN; 9 grandchildren, Nicolle and Dylan Klukken, Emma, Conner, Lillian and Alana Tenhoff, Evan and Micah Soderholm, and Baby Tenhoff, (due in February); her mother, Phyllis Schmidt of Osakis; siblings, Cheryl Reynolds of Redwood Falls, Mary Jo (Robert) Walsh of Osakis, Michael (Romona) Schmidt of Carlos, Dennis Schmidt of Osakis, Danita (Kyle) Ward of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
