Gary Nielsen

Gary Nielsen, age 72 of Osakis, formerly of East Bethel passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at his home in Osakis, MN.
Gary Lee Nielsen was born on August 27, 1941 in Mankato, MN to Henry and Sally (Wussow) Nielsen. After his schooling, Gary served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, Gary became an electrician and worked for many years at the Ford Motors Co. plant in St. Paul, MN. He was married on September 16, 1978 to Sheryl Caflisch in St. Paul, MN. They retired to a home in Osakis, MN.
Some of his interests included traveling, especially to visit family, going to the MN State Fair each year and hosting foreign exchange students through the Aspect Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Nielsen of Osakis; children, Melissa (Lisa) Benton-Nielsen of Ft. Worth, TX, Sarah (Bill) Lockwood of Eagle Bend, Doug (Cassie) Nielsen of Osakis, Andrew (Shannon) Nielsen of St. Cloud; 7 grandchildren; six foreign exchange students; a brother, Daryl (Patricia) Nielsen of Mankato and sisters, Carol (Reginald) Weingartz of Mankato and Debra (Scott) Carlson of Rockford. He is preceded in death by his parents.
