LIFE HISTORY for GENE HOIUM
Gene Hoium, age 53 passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 2, 2006 at his home in Alexandria, MN.
Gene Evans Hoium was born on December 27, 1952 in Alexandria to Ervin and Geraline (Johnson) Hoium. He was a 1970 graduate of Osakis High School . He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1973. In 1974 he married Candace Wright and they had two sons. Gene worked for the railroad , construction and in property management in the Minneapolis area. In 1986, he received his paralegal degree from Hennepin Technical College. In 1987, Gene married Emilie Keesling and they had a daughter and a son.
Among the things he enjoyed were hunting, fishing, playing cards, reading and watching the Twins and the Vikings sports teams on television.
He is survived by his three sons, Damien, Zachary and Evan and a daughter, Leah; his mother, Geraline Hoium of Alexandria and two sisters, Wanda Cooley and Linda Getz, both of Alexandria; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ervin in 1993, a great nephew, Tye Massmann and a great niece, Amber Robideaux.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 7 at 11:00 am at the Salem Lutheran Church in rural Osakis with Rev. Steve Hilde officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery with Mark and Lonnie Hoium, Dave, Kim, Mike and Kris Massman, Kae and Dean Eblen and Ryan and Amy Robideaux as casketbearers.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
