Glen Coykendall, age 93 of Osakis passed into his new life on Sunday, September 29 at the Galeon in Osakis, MN where he was a resident.
On January 8, 1926 a son was born to Marion ‘Mike’ and Mable (Fenstad) Coykendall in Alexandria, MN. They named him Glen and he was one of four children born to this union. He attended school in Alexandria and after that worked with his father doing construction. During WW II he worked for Pillsbury by keeping the flour mill dust-free. That Pillsbury flour fed the troops the world over. He served his country in the U S Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. He took a job working for Goodwill Industries out of Denver, CO and worked there for thirty-nine years. He returned to central Minnesota after retiring in 1992, moving into an assisted living facility in Alexandria and after three years to the Terrace Heights Apartments in Osakis to be near his sister, Gladys. Glen was a helpful addition to the Terrace Heights and took great pleasure in helping the other residents with mail delivery and friendly conversation. He was long time Denver Broncos fan, but also rooted for the Minnesota Twins. In addition to traveling, Glen enjoyed fishing, bowling and map reading, he was always the navigator on any family outings.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maxine Williams. He will live on in the hearts of his siblings, Wayne Coykendall of Denver, CO and Gladys Sliper of Osakis; many nieces and nephews and their families.
