Harold John DeBlieck was born on January 26, 1956, in Bertha, Minnesota to Robert and Ellen (Forsberg) DeBlieck. He was one of nine children that was raised on a farm in rural Bertha. In 1974, Harold graduated from Clarissa High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country for three and a half years as a jet engine mechanic and was stationed in San Marina, CA. After his service, he moved to Aldrich, Minnesota where he owned and operated the Aldrich Gas and Service Station.
Harold was united in marriage to Bernadette Johnson on April 7, 1979, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena. The couple continued to live in Aldrich, where Harold sold the gas station and attended Staples Technical College in the fall of 1979 for a degree in drafting and design. After college he was hired by 3M in Staples. Harold continued his education in St. Paul through 3M and completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1985. Throughout his career at 3M, he was transferred to numerous different communities and felt blessed to be able to move to the cabin on Lake Osakis while working at the Staples location in 2000, where he was able to finish his last 17 years. Harold retired in April of 2017 after 37 years.
Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, (especially spearing), riding his motorcycle and spending time behind the grill or smoker. He loved taking his family on hunting, fishing and camping trips. He will always be remembered for his willingness to help others, dependability, heart of gold, and as the rock and foundation for his family. The family has treasured each and every day after his motorcycle accident in 2017 and considered each of those days a blessing.
Harold died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Alomere Health in Alexandria at the age of 65.
