Harry Rutten, age 92 of Osakis died on Friday, April 27, 2007 from injuries suffered in a grass fire at his farm on the northwest side of Lake Osakis.
Harry was born on April 25, 1915 in Osakis to Christ and Mathilda (Roers) Rutten. On June 27, 1939 he was united in marriage to Amelia Zimmel at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. They farmed for 68 years, milking cows and raising crops. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish in Osakis and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
Besides working on the farm, Harry enjoyed gardening and fishing. He liked to take in area auctions and getting together with the neighbors for a game of cards.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Amelia Rutten of Osakis and a sister, Rosella Stoetzel, also of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, John, Bernard and Tom Rutten and two sisters, Louise Wagner and Annie Miller.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held for Harry on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Osakis with Fr. Dick McGuire officiating. Music is provided by the organ choir. Interment is at the Calvary Cemetery in Osakis with Gerald and Roger Rutten, Leo Stoetzel, Gail and Reuben Sibell and Lenny Boogaard acting as pallbearers.
