Jacqueline 'Jackie' Amundson, age 54 of Brainerd, formerly of Glenwood and Osakis, passed away on Saturday, June 16 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with a gathering time beginning at 10 am. Visitation hours are from 5 - 8 pm on Friday evening at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.

Jackie was born to Jim and Joan (Lomheim) Abers on May 7, 1964 in Minneapolis, MN. She moved with her family to Osakis and graduated with the Osakis High School class of 1982. She attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and played on not only their volleyball team, but competed in track and basketball, as well. She then transferred to Moorhead State University and graduated with a degree in K-12 Physical Education, while competing as an All-American in track. She then completed her Masters degree in Adaptive Physical Education. Jackie was hired up in Alaska and taught on Admiralty Island of Cube Cove and in Anchorage, Alaska before returning to Minnesota. She married Wade Amundson and they had two daughters, Alexia and Taylor. Jackie taught and coached in Minnewaska Area Schools for over twenty years. She lived and raised her girls in Starbuck until she retired in 2014. She relocated to the Brainerd lakes area after her retirement.
Besides her basic love for all types of sporting events, Jackie liked to stay in shape by daily running, coaching, teaching pottery, and painting. She was happy when she could be outdoors and especially liked to work out in her garden.
She is survived by her daughters, Alexia and Taylor Amundson, both of Glenwood; her parents, Jim and Joan Abers of Alexandria; sisters, Tammy (Paul) Reis of Sauk Rapids and Gwinette Cowan of San Francisco, CA; dear friend, Mike Nelson and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Cal and Marguarite Abers and Julian and Lorraine Lomheim; niece, Cagney Reis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Hilde officiating. Musicians are organist, Vicki Hinrichs and soloist, Kelly Smith. Inurnment is at the Long Bridge Cemetery in rural Osakis, MN with honorary bearers, Wesley and Cole Reis.
