Life History for Johnny Johnson
Johnny Johnson, age 79 of Osakis passed into the peace of Heaven on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.
Johnny J. Johnson, Jr. was born on August 7, 1931 in rural Todd County, MN to John and Hulda (Brakken) Johnson. He farmed with his family until moving to the Twin Cities where he took employment as a machinist for World Aerospace of Minneapolis. The company later relocated to Osseo. Johnny married Cresenthia Shonka in North Dakota. Johnny retired in 1993 and returned to live on the family farm. Due to poor health, he moved into Galeon in 2005.
Johnny was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church. He was also active mentoring others as an AA member for over twenty years. Some of his favorite past times included going hunting, fishing and using his mechanical skills working on various projects in his shed, such as repairing and refurbishing old tractors.
Johnny was a kind and loving father and grandpa who will be dearly remembered by his family, neighbors and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cresenthia; brother, Wallace Johnson and sister, Harriet Overvig.

He is survived by his sons, Ron (Belinda) Johnson of Galesville, WI, David (Kari) Shonka of Ham Lake and Bruce Shonka of Hayward, WI; three grandchildren, Amanda, Kevin and Krystal; 5 great grandchildren, Austin, Abigail, Michelle, Noah and Jaiden.
Memorial services were held for Johnny on Tuesday, January 18 at 2:00 pm at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Hilde officiating. Interment will be at the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Osakis.
