Joseph ‘Joe’ Morisette, age 69 of Nelson passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the Galeon in Osakis after a brave fight to beat brain cancer.
On April 3, 1951 Bernard and Ruth (Jahn) Morisette welcomed home a son which they named Joseph Bernard. He was born in Marshall, MN and was one of a family of nine children. The family moved to the Osakis/Nelson area to farm and Joseph graduated from Osakis High School with the Class of 1970. He attended technical college and then returned home to help run the family farm. He loved to work on the farm, whether it was tending their dairy herd or driving tractor during planting or harvest. After his father died, Joe and his brother, Rick took charge of managing the farm and helping care for their mother. Some of his hobbies and interests included anything to do with farming, and all of it done with his dog, Chester at his side. He especially liked to take drives around the area looking at the crops. He enjoyed when his nieces and nephews visited the farm. He would take time to show them the tractors and farm equipment and anything they were interested in. Joe loved to be near family and was very proud to be able to manage the family farm. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis, MN and enjoyed learning and sharing his knowledge about many other area churches.
Joe is survived by his siblings, Jim (Sue) Morisette of Nelson, Ann (Jerry) Waldvogel of Nelson, Irene Triemert of Roseville, Rick Morisette of Nelson, Kathy (George) Kuhne of Miltona, Clara (Dan Green) Morisette of St. Cloud, Albert (Marilyne) Morisette of Osakis and Bernadette (Jeff) Ludwig of Inver Grove Heights; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Tom Triemert.
