Julie Zimmerley, age 77 of Long Lake, MN passed away on August 1, 2019 at the Galeon in Osakis, MN.
Julie Ann Hehl was born on November 1, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN to Vernon and Harriet (Stafford) Hehl. She was a graduate of Orono High School with the Class of 1959 and went to work as a bookkeeper for General Mills, retiring in 1988. Throughout her life, Julie suffered from multiple medical issues and became very close to and appreciated the care of Drs. B J Kennedy and Dr. Robert McCabe during her frequent stays at the U of M hospital.
Julie had many interests and was a talented baker, who took pride in making perfect batches of chocolate chip and sugar cookies to gift to family and friends. Her meticulous nature benefited her at work and in the kitchen. She took pride in her fresh vegetable garden and loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandkids. She loved to read and also kept her hands busy doing various crewel and latch hook projects. Julie found comfort in having her cats and a good mystery novel by her side. Julie was a faithful MN Vikings. She was a kind and loving mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Julie will live on in the hearts of her son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Kathie Zimmerley of Miltona, MN; her grandchildren, Amanda & Jason Goodfallow of Mound and Jesse Zimmerley of Burnsville; 2 great grandchildren, Amara and Gryffin Goodfallow; her siblings, Beth & Ed Miller of Aitkin and Darryl Hehl of Brooklyn Park. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held for Julie on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Long Lake, MN with Rev. Dr. Carol Reed officiating. A gathering time will begin at 10:00 am at the church that morning. Inurnment is next to her parents at the Pioneer Cemetery in Long Lake.
