Larry Dean Frisch was born on April 2, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa to Lawrence and Lois (Macken) Frisch. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1967, then attended NIACC and Iowa State University for a short while. Larry followed in his father’s footsteps and worked at McGregor’s Furniture. He started in the warehouse as a furniture delivery guy and progressed his way up to the sales floor.
On August 15, 1975, he married the love of his life, Voni Proctor, in Mason City. They made their home there and were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Stephanie, in 1981. He enjoyed being outdoors with his family as much as he could.
Larry’s aunt and uncle owned a resort on the Chippewa Flowage in Winter, Wisconsin. From fishing for muskies, sturgeon or sunnies to talking with the different renters, he couldn’t get enough of resort life, so he and Voni decided to make a career change and purchase a resort. In 1994, they found the perfect family resort in Osakis, MN called Sun-Fish Resort; through sweat and love, they ran the resort together, making many wonderful memories and friends. Larry was involved with the Osakis Resort Association and a member of the Osakis Lake Association.
During the off season, Larry worked a variety of jobs over the years, finding 3M his favorite. Larry was a very humble and down to earth man. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and passed his passion down to his daughter and grandkids. They spent many days on the lake on the pontoon, fishing for sunnies, and relaxing by the fire to watch the panoramic sunsets.
