LIFE HISTORY FOR LAVAUN "VONNIE" SCHOECK
LaVaun Alice Good Schoeck was born to Rex and Sevilla (Belken) Good in Olivia, MN on May 29, 1930. She was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical United Brethern Church in Danube, MN. She graduated from Danube High School. On March 28, 1948 she was united in marriage to Jake Schoeck. They lived in Danube for a short time before making their home in Renville. They were blessed with six sons. During this time LaVaun helped with the family business, was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir and helping with the Ladies Aide, in addition to caring for her own children.
The Schoecks then moved to Eden Prairie for three years before settling in Osakis in 1971. In 1975 LaVaun was hired by the Osakis Public School as a Teacher's Aide. She worked at the school for the next twenty-two years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the local P.E.O. and also served as a hospice and nursing home volunteer.
As a member at Osakis Lutheran Church, LaVaun again offered her talents by helping as a member of the Befriender's program, the sewing group and the Ladies Aide. She also served as a church deacon.
LaVaun had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends. She was an avid Bridge player and also enjoyed quilting, specializing in beautiful table runners and pot holders that she gifted to many family and friends. She was an excellent cook, well known for her delicious potato salad and an endless supply of cookies. She loved to travel, garden, and was a loyal Twins baseball fan. She enjoyed many hours as a fan following her children and grandchildren's various events. Her family was very important to her and she was happiest when they could all gather together for holidays and special events.
LaVaun entered her eternal life on Friday, January 23, 2015 from her home in Osakis, MN, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by her family. She was a kind, generous, and caring mother, grandma, sister, aunt, who will be dearly missed and lovingly, remembered by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched. Special thanks to the Knute-Nelson Hospice for their tender care.
Left to mourn her passing are her six sons, David (Sharol) Schoeck of Hines, MN, Dan Schoeck of Hammond, WI, Craig (Ronnah) Schoeck of Osakis, Todd (Kim) Schoeck of Walker, MN; Tim (Julie) Schoeck of Osakis and Russ (Janine) Schoeck of Benedict, MN; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brother, Larry (Ethel) Good of Mora, MN; sister, Gloria (Dean) Ohland of Litchfield, MN; sister-in-law, Elsie (Don) Kleman of Remer, MN; and daughter-in-law, Jill Schoeck of Hudson, WI; many nieces and nephews.
