Life History for Lil -
On November 21, 1932 a baby girl was born to Earl and Ethel (DeBord) Clark in Osakis, MN. They named her Lillian Mae and she was one of five children, having three sisters and a brother. She graduated from Osakis High School with the Class of 1950 and began working at Schwartzwald’s car dealership as a bookkeeper, then advanced into parts and auto sales. She followed the dealership to Alexandria in 1962 as part of the management team. In 1977 she moved to the Lee Motors dealership where she worked until she retired in 1995. In 2007, Lil bought a home in Osakis and enjoyed living back in her home town.
Lillian was a life-long learner who had a variety of hobbies and interests. She enjoyed people and loved to entertain. Traveling was another pastime as were activities such as bowling, socializing with friends and reading. Because of her natural talents and organizational skills, Lil volunteered many hours helping run various charitable organizations. She belonged to the local American Cancer Society and served as their treasurer and likewise served as a treasurer and member of the Douglas County Food Shelf. Lil also belonged to the Community Memorial Home Auxillary, the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Alexandria, and the Zetetic Study Club. For over 70 years, Lillian was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Osakis, serving over the years as Sunday school teacher, treasurer for 25 years, elder and deacon. Her kind smile, great wit and general love for her neighbor made her a valuable asset to any group she was a part of. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Lillian is survived by one brother-in-law, Dean Brunton of Miltona, MN, several nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors. She is preceded by her parents and siblings, Lloyd & Shirley Clark, Lucille and August Wiegers, Hazel and Floyd Westerberg and Ann Brunton.
