Life History for Lorie Marcyes
Lorie Marcyes, age 51 of Long Prairie entered the peace of Heaven on June 18, 2012 from her home in Leslie Township, Todd County, MN.
Lorie Ann Kortuem was born on February 24, 1961 in Winsted, Minnesota to Loren and Roselyn (Petron) Kortuem. She grew up in Browerville and then Eagle Bend, graduating in 1979. On December 7, 1979 Lorie married Laurel 'Punk' Marcyes in Long Prairie. In addition to helping on their farm, Lorie also attended nursing training at the Alexandria Technical College. Lorie was employed at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis for over 26 years. She had also worked at the Central Todd County Care Center of Clarissa for a year.
Lorie had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid bowler, who enjoyed belonging to leagues and especially liked to attend the national bowling tournaments in person whenever they traveled. She was also an excellent cook who enjoyed baking and canning for her family. She always kept a beautiful garden and enjoyed being outdoors. Fishing and going to dances were other past times she enjoyed. She also spent some free time going horseback riding or four-wheeling. During the winter months she would work on various crochet or needlework projects. Lorie loved her family and was so happy being a grandma. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandma, daughter and sister who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Punk Marcyes of Long Prairie; sons, Devlin (Heather) Marcyes and Travis Marcyes, all of Long Prairie; grandchildren, Tiara & Brock Marcyes, Abigail Marcyes; her parents, Loren Kortuem of Clarissa and Roselyn Kortuem of Eagle Bend; 2 brothers, Brian (Lynette Skillings) Kortuem of Eagle Bend, Ronald Kortuem of Browerville; a sister, Carol Cantleberry of Elk River; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is an infant brother, Timothy Kortuem.
Funeral services for Lorie will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Peace United Church North, Long Prairie, MN with Rev. Sharon Johnson officiating. Interment is at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery of Carlos, MN. Pallbearers are Chris and Craig Zenner, Denver Kortuem, Dennis Marcyes, Jason Sandbakken and Chris Line.
