Lorraine Cassell

*Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Family Gatherer, Gardener, and Quilting Artisan*

It is with great sorrow and tender remembrance that we announce the passing of Lorraine Cassell, who departed this world on April 7, 2025, at the age of 95. Lorraine’s journey was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family, whom she cherished above all else. She was the glue that held her loved ones together and the shining light of every gathering. Lorraine was born on July 12, 1929, in West Union, Minnesota, to John and Mary Miller, where her warmth and kindness first began to touch the lives of those around her. As life unfolded, she became known not only for her generous spirit but also for her many talents. Her passion for gardening turned her yard into a vibrant sanctuary, a source of joy for all who visited. She had a green thumb like no other and took pride in cultivating beauty from the earth. Equally skilled as a quilter, Lorraine’s creations were not merely quilts but cherished works of art that wrapped her loved ones in warmth and care. Her kitchen table was more than a place—it was a hub of shared stories, hearty meals created from food she had grown, and unconditional love. She turned family gatherings into treasured memories, weaving bonds just as skillfully as she did her quilts.

Lorraine will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the way she made each person feel special, for her warm hugs and infectious laughter. Her legacy lives on in her child Rikki Anderson, her grandchildren Dave (Julie) Anderson, Kris (Doug) Enloe, and Brian (Erin) Anderson; eight great-grandchildren and many extended family members.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her first husband Rollance Anderson, her second husband Vernon Cassell, two great-grandchildren (Hollis and Scarlet), her siblings (John, Ray, Lillian, Melvin, and James) and special friend Oscar Rueckert.

A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held on April 17th at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior at Osakis Lutheran Church in Osakis, MN.
