Marian Fraser

Our dear mother, Marian Victoria Fraser went to her heavenly rest on September 25, 2007. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN.
Marian Victoria Solem was born to Carl and Signe (Anderson) Solem on September 7, 1919 on the family farm in Kensington, MN. She and her sister, Vera worked together helping their deaf mother on the farm. Marian graduated valedictorian of her class and attended beauty school in Minneapolis. She opened Through the Looking Glass, a beauty shop in Osakis where she met her husband, Dan Fraser. They were united in marriage on October 25, 1941 in Kensington. This union was blest with four daughters, Judy, Shirley, Nancy and Tracy. She was an active member of Osakis Lutheran Church and treasurer of her church circle for many years.
Marian taught her daughters the fine art of lefse and spritz making. She enjoyed visiting with family and friend, a warm cup of coffee and sharing a favorite treat. Her favorite past times were working in her flower garden, babysitting dogs and watching the birds from her kitchen table. She was a great cook and her family will fondly remember her famous barbequed chicken, cheeseburgers and brownies.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dan A. Fraser, an infant daughter, Kathleen, a granddaughter, Stephanie Amber Larson, her sister, Vera Max, an infant brother, Carl Solem, son-in-law, Doug McMillan and good friend, El Fezler.
Surviving family members include her four daughters, Judy (Ron) Traulich of Osakis, Shirley (Don) Curtis of St. Cloud, Nancy McMillan of Shingle Springs, CA, Tracy (Mark) Larson of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Septmeber 28, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Calvert officiating. Musicians were organist, Pat Converse and soloists, Allen Larsen and Dana Hetland. Interment was at the Lakeside Cemetery in Osakis with honorary pallbearers, Howard Majerus, Jim Fearing and Mary Schultz. Active pallbearers were her grandchildren, Dale and Brett McMillan, Robin Prentice, Benji, Justin and Heather Larson, Casey Curtis, Christine Traulich, Dori McDonald and Sadie Traulich.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
