Marlys Mae Ferris was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 3, 2022, at the age of 90. Marlys was born on December 17, 1931, to Everett and Cora (Johnson) Reddick in Osakis, Minnesota. She went to Osakis Public School where she met Robert Ferris, who became the love of her life. They joined in marriage on September 1, 1952 and lived on the Ferris Family Dairy Farm in Osakis for 66 years together where they raised their two sons, David and Bruce. After Bob’s passing on September 10, 2018, she moved into Terrance Heights apartments in town, where she enjoyed movie and pizza nights with the ladies!
Marlys loved her family and gave us the most wonderful example of how to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved Bob more than life itself and they spent their life side by side, whether it was milking cows, going out dancing, bowling, playing cards with friends or going to grandkids’ events. Their love for each other and God created a family that she spent her life taking care of and loving. She loved spending time in her gardens, baking, and going to Women’s Bible Studies also. She probably made over a million cookies in her lifetime because there was always “Grandma cookies” ready to take out to the field for afternoon coffee or just times when you stopped playing outside and came in to say hi to Grandma and she would sneak you a cookie!!
Marlys will live on in the hearts of her family, her sons and daughters-in-law, David & Cynthia Ferris of Hackensack, Bruce and Connie Ferris of Osakis, her six grandchildren, Angie (Tony) Arnold, John (Lacey) Ferris, Kelly (Steve) Schneider, Brian (Katie) Ferris, Keith (Meagan) Ferris, and Kristin (RJ) Deutsch, 18 great-grandchildren, her brother Tom (Sandy) Reddick, many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Marlys is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, her parents, her sisters, Doris Curtis and Colleen Kloos, and brother, Kenny Reddick.
