Nancy Gilsrud

Nancy Gilsrud, age 75 of Osakis passed away on Sunday, June 24 at the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria, MN.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 15 from 12 noon to 3:00 pm at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis with interment to follow at the West Evergreen Cemetery in Osakis.  Arrangements by Roy-Hetland Funeral Home, Osakis, MN www.royhetland.com

Nancy was born on January 28, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Norman and Ruth (Carlson) Dahl.  From a young age, Nancy had a caring heart and a willingness to help others.  After graduation from Vocational High School in Minneapolis, she married Joseph Wrobel and they had a son.  On Nov. 21, 1964 Nancy married Bobby Gilsrud.  They raised their blended family of six children and Nancy also managed to find time to work in the healthcare field as a nursing assistant in hospitals and nursing homes.  She was tireless in her efforts to help others and support her family.  When they moved to the Osakis area in 1993, Nancy was hired by the Osakis Community Memorial Home and then the Long Prairie Nursing Home as a health aide.  She became involved with the local car club organization, the Central Lakes Cruizers and had served as president.  She was a proud Grandma, who thoroughly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.  When she was able to find some time for herself, Nancy enjoyed just sitting in her recliner reading a good book.

She is survived by her children, Andrew ‘Andy’ (Cindy) Wrobel of Delavan, WI, Tim (Karen) Gilsrud of Osakis and Tom (Denise) Gilsrud of Long Prairie, Tammy (Scott) McInnis of Belle Plain, MN; stepsons, Jesse (Jody) Gilsrud of Minneapolis and Jimmie Gilsrud of Black Duck, MN; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (Gary) Oman of New Hope, Audrey Dahl of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Charlotte Dahl of Maple Grove; nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Gilsrud (in 2014.)

A Celebration of Life will be held for Nancy on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 12 noon until 3 pm  at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.  Inurnment will be at the West Evergreen Cemetery in Osakis, MN.  Arrangements by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
