Life History for Naomi Anderson

Naomi Anderson, age 99 of Osakis passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.
On September 9, 1913 a baby girl was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota to William T. and Ella (Anderson) Olson. They named her Naomi Violet and she was happily welcomed into their family. She grew up in Devils Lake and attended school there through the eighth grade. For a time during WWII, Naomi moved west to work in the shipyards in Ollalah, Washington. Upon her return in the late 1940's, she settled on the family farm north of Osakis, MN. Naomi milked the cows and also tended a huge garden each season. She loved to cook and can produce that her family could enjoy all year. She gave up the dairy farming in the 1970's and worked at the Walleye Lodge cleaning cabins for several more years.
Naomi was a member of the Osakis Lutheran Church and also enjoyed a weekly neighborhood Bible study group. She valued the importance of helping family and often helped her daughter care for foster children. Naomi also had a green thumb and loved to raise various flowers and try a variety of plants in her vegetable garden each year. Doing craft projects and checking out area garage sales were other hobbies she enjoyed. She was a gentle and loving mother, grandma and great grandma who will be lovingly remembered.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Doug) Sherman of Osakis; a granddaughter, Stacy (John) Betsinger of Osakis; 4 great grandchildren, Hailey Rose Sherman, Johnathan, Logan and Carter Betsinger; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Ella Anderson; her siblings, Hannah Todd, Vivian Wenzel, Norman, Chester and Leslie Olson; a nephew, Bill Olson and great nephew, Ty Atterbury.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 5 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Calvert officiating. Reader is Maria Gilman. Musicians are Pat Converse and Darlene Hendricks. Interment is at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Clotho, MN. Honorary bearers are her foster grandchildren and her friends and neighbors. Active bearers are John and Stacy Betsinger, Hailey Rose Sherman, Johnathan and Logan Betsinger, Darrell Nelson and Dick Weldele.
