Neil Larson

LIFE HISTORY FOR NEIL LARSON
Neil Larson, age 75 of Osakis passed away Friday morning, November 16, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Neil was born on May 22, 1932 in Alexandria, MN to Harry and Regina (Brede) Larson. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria with the Class of 1950. He joined the service and served two years in the U.S. Army and continued as a member of the Minnesota National Guard. On December 15, 1962 Neil was united in marriage to Barbara Maus at Osakis Lutheran Church. Neil did mechanic work over the years for many area businesses, such as Schwartzwald Motors, Hustad's, H.B. Nelson, Douglas County Highway Department, Burgess Construction and Alex Concrete. The Larson's also owned and operated the Shell gas station in Osakis for a time. Neil retired in 1984 after suffering from a stroke which left him unable to continue working.
Neil was a member of the Osakis Lutheran Church. He also served twenty years on the Osakis Fire Department and was a past member of the Alexandria Legion.
Some of Neil's interests were gardening, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed shaking dice over morning coffee and getting out snowmobiling each winter. Neil loved watching sports on television and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. And even though Neil spent many hours every day doing mechanic work, it seemed he could never turn down friends and neighbors who brought over their cars for him to work on in his garage.
Neil is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Larson of Osakis; his children, Robert (Janelle) Larson of Baxter, Julie (Steve) Jozelic of Zimmerman, Scott (Betsy) Larson of Wadena; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his sister, Betty (Augie) Hinrichs of Osakis; his mother-in-law, Ruby Maus of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Albert and Charles Larson and a nephew, Daniel Larson.

Funeral services for Neil were held on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church in Osakis with Rev. Ron Calvert officiating. Musicians were organist, Pat Converse and soloist, Dana Hetland. Honorary bearers were the members and retired members of the Osakis Fire Department. Interment was at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls with military honors provided by the Osakis VFW Post #7902.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
