Ramona Hagen, age 87 of Osakis passed away on Saturday evening, May 25, 2019 at the Alomere Health hospital in Alexandria, MN.
Ramona was born on August 25, 1931 in Osakis, MN to Robert and Clara (Steffen) Chapin. She attended Osakis Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1949. She moved to Minneapolis after graduation and was hired as a secretary at a bank. She married Donald Hagen on October 18, 1951 at the Osakis Lutheran Church. They made their home in Osakis and Ramona was hired by the First National Bank in Osakis, where she worked for many years until retiring in 2000. She was a member at the Osakis United Methodist Church, involved in the Ladies Aid, serving as treasurer. When the local church closed, she joined the Osakis Lutheran Church.
Besides spending time with family, Ramona also enjoyed camping at their lot in Mille Lacs, playing cards, reading, bowling, golfing, researching family heritage, scrapbooking, socializing with the Red Hat Ladies, and in her younger years, going cross-country skiing. She stayed active and enjoyed traveling. She loved following and traveling with the Bertha-Hewitt Marching Band. She most loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed their various activities. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Ramona is survived by her children, Connie (Ken) Nelson of Bertha, Donna (Larry) Pulkrabek of Superior, WI, Richard (Kathy) Hagen of Glenwood, Mark Hagen of Springield, MO, Lynnette (Howard) Swenstad of Osakis; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy Chapin of Long Prairie; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Donald; a son, Curtis, an infant son, Donald Robert and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hagen.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 31 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church in Osakis with Rev. Rich Fitzer officiating. Special music will be performed by Ken Nelson, Kim, Noah, & Micah Kundert, Amy, Aden & Brady Rach, Rebecca, Miranda, Maya, & Melena Longtin. Organist is Pat Converse with soloist, Dana Hetland. Inurnment is at the Lakeside Cemetery in Osakis, MN. Honorary bearers are her granddaughters, Kim Kundert, Amy Rach, Angie Paulson, Rebecca Longtin, Jessica Magnuson, Amanda Jensen and Kristie Swenstad. Active pallbearers are Mark, Jason and William Hagen, Greg Anderson, Bryan Lagergren and Kyle Swenstad.
