Reuben was born on June 16, 1927, in Belle River Township, the son of Ernest and Edna (Swor) Sibell. He grew up on a farm in Belle River Township and attended country school.
Reuben was united in marriage to Mary Seifert on August 16, 1949 in Alexandria. The couple farmed North of Osakis where they raised their family. They were very active at Fahlun Lutheran Church. He and Mary looked forward to visiting family and friends.
Reuben purchased the farm in 1950 and actively dairy farmed from 1950-1991. Reuben liked fishing on the Long Prairie River next to his farm. He enjoyed raising his cattle and loved his cowboy hats, wearing his cowboy boots and making belts.
Reuben died on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Galeon in Osakis. He is survived by his children: David (Kathy) of Glenwood, Allen (Sara) of Osakis, Russell of Frederick, CO, June (Tim) Fleck of Sturgis, SD, Carol Evert of Alexandria; daughter-in-laws: Jan Sibell, Lynn Sibell; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edna & Ernest Sibell; brother, Wallace Sibell, sisters: Helen Marquette, Jane Granland; wife, Mary; sons: Gene, Steven; daughter, Kathryn; grandson: Joseph Schlosser.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Fahlun Lutheran Church rural Nelson with the Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Fahlun Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home.
