LIFE HISTORY FOR SOPHIE WEBER
Sophie Weber, age 94 of Osakis died early Sunday morning, May 25 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.
Sophie Marie Schelfhout was born on July 22, 1913 in Tampico, Illinois to Domino and Stephanie (Deyaeger) Schelfhout. At the age of five, Sophie moved with her family to farm near Osakis, MN. She was a graduate of Osakis High School and on March 29, 1937 was united in marriage to William Weber at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis. The Weber's farmed north of Osakis for over 46 years, retiring and moving into Osakis in 1984, living at the Decann apartments.
Sophie was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish. She thoroughly enjoyed life on the farm and always had a beautiful garden each season. She was an excellent seamstress and made many clothes and repaired many sets of overalls during their years on the farm. Traveling was something Sophie enjoyed once retired and she also like to watch or listen to sporting events on the television or radio. She had a sharp mind and enjoyed playing crossword puzzles or games of solitare.
She is survived by her children, Daniel (Mary) Weber of Albany, Donna (Virgil) Zins of Spannaway, WA and Richard (Elaine) Weber of Alexandria, MN; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rosalie Kreemer of Osakis and Marie (James) Schoener of Cosmos, MN; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Weber, a sister, Marj Schelfhout and two brothers, Raymond and Petrous Schelfhout.
A Mass of Resurrection was held for Sophie on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis with Fr. Ralph Zimmerman officiating. Music was provided by the church funeral choir. Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery in Osakis with her grandchildren as active pallbearers.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
