Ted Harvey

November 10, 1950 — September 30, 2017

Theodore (Ted) J. Harvey (11/10/1950 - 9/30/2017) passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon surrounded by his wife, his three children, his sister, and his niece at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and June Harvey, his sister, Claudia Durand and his twin granddaughters, Ashley and Rachel Rutten. He is survived by: his wife Janet Harvey of Osakis; son, Jon (Sarah) Harvey of Roseville; daughters Heather (Mike) Rutten of Little Falls and Trisha (Jason) Janu of Zimmerman; brother, Timothy (Joan) Harvey of Long Prairie; sisters, Susan Rosenlund of Clarissa and Lisa (Larry) Kramer of Hector; 7 loving grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews. Ted was born in Detroit Lakes, MN. He grew up in Bloomington, MN, graduated from Bloomington-Kennedy High School and later served in Germany during the Vietnam War (1969-1972) as a U.S. Army tank mechanic. He was an auto body professional in Osakis and Long Prairie, MN for much of his life where he raised his three children, taught them how to play sports and instilled in them the values of honesty, hard work, and humility. He was known by his friends and family for his loyalty, honesty, strength, and genuine appreciation for the simple things in life. Ted will be greatly missed. A celebration of life was held October 8th at Long Prairie American Legion, with burial at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN on November 9th, 2017.
