Terry Rosenow

January 21, 1952 — December 30, 2018

Osakis, MN

Terry ‘Hammer’ Rosenow, age 66, entered into his new life from his home in Osakis, MN with the love of his family surrounding him on Sunday, December 30, 2018.

Terry Harold Rosenow was born on January 21, 1952 in Alexandria, MN.  He was the only son born to Harold and Alice (Fritzlar) Rosenow and was welcomed home by his sister, Bev. He grew up on a farm southwest of Osakis and attended Osakis Public School, graduating with the Class of 1970.  Terry was a natural athlete and enjoyed participating in sports, especially many rounds of golf and playing with the Orange Tigers softball team.  As a young man, Terry started working on building projects with his father who owned and operated Rosenow Construction.  Terry quickly learned the trade and like his father, became a meticulous craftsman. Rosenow Construction had a reputation for fine work and were never short of building jobs.  Terry took over the business once his father retired and ran it successfully for over 40 years.  On July 4, 1981 Terry married Linda Koep at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria and was a proud Dad of their two daughters, Tara and Lindsay. Throughout the years, Terry completed many area buildings and structures, such as the Osakis VFW, Creamery Feed Shed, plus his own rural home and shed. He retired from construction in 2010.  He continued to enjoy working with his hands and could fix anything that was needed. Terry and Linda moved into Osakis in 2017 to downsize and simplify their lifestyles.

Besides sports, Terry was also a bowler and deer hunter.  He loved to fish, whether it was summer outings with the family or ice fishing in the custom fish house he had built.  As well, he enjoyed many card games with family and friends. Terry loved his family, especially cheering for his girls as they participated in school sports.  Watching the MN Lynx, Twins, and Timberwolves was nice, but watching his grandkids grow is what really brought him happiness. His legacy of love will live on through his grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed by his family, relatives, and many friends.  Blessed be his memory.

Terry will live on in the heart of his wife of 37 years, Linda Rosenow of Osakis; his daughters and their husbands, Tara (David) Hetland of Osakis and Lindsay (Chris) Christensen of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren, Dylan, Tate, and Tyson Hetland, Ivy Christensen; a sister, Bev Olson of New London; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alice Rosenow.

Funeral services celebrating Terry’s life will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Chad Schwanke as the celebrant.  Musician will be his goddaughter, Kayla Koep.  Interment is at the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, MN with honorary pallbearers being his beloved grandchildren.  Active bearers are David Hetland, Chris Christensen, Harold Koep, Michael Olson, Brian Niehoff, Ken Engle, and Zep Hinrichs.

In lieu of floral remembrances, memorials are preferred and will be lovingly paid forward in his name.
