Life History for Veronica Feldewerd
Veronica Feldewerd, age 95, of Sauk Centre passed away Friday at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Veronica was born June 26, 1915, one of twelve children, to Frank and Frances (Stangler) Finken in Crane Town Township, St. Anthony, Minnesota. She attended St. Anthony Catholic School through the 8th grade. She married Henry Feldewerd on June 25, 1935 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Veronica and Henry dairy farmed together until Henry's death on July 9th, 1971. Veronica became a priest housekeeper and cook along with other area housekeeping jobs. For several years, she was a baker at the Sauk Centre Correctional Facility. She lived the last several years with her daughter, Irene, in rural Osakis. Veronica was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Christian Mother's and Catholic Aid Society. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and in her later years found great peace and joy in praying the rosary.
Veronica is survived by three daughters: Dorothy Ley of Melrose, Irene (Richard) Roering of Osakis, and Mary Ann (Medard) Forster of Albany; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 3 gt gt grandchildren; brother, Richard (Vicki) Finken of Arizona and 2 sisters; Lidvina Vener and Dorothy Hoeschen, both of Sauk Centre.
Preceding Veronica in death are her husband Henry, son, John Feldewerd, daughter, Christina Koopmeiners, son-in-law, Herbert Ley, daughter-in-law, Delphine Feldewerd, 2 grandchildren, Francis Roering and Judy Feldewerd, 3 brothers, John, Philip, and Peter Finken, and 5 sisters, Techla Frie, Philamina Hollenkamp, Dina Herkenhoff, Cecelia Hedglin, and Rose Pfieffer.
Visitation for Veronica is Friday evening 6:30 - 9:00 pm at the St Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with parish prayers at 6:30 pm. There will be a Christian Mothers/ Catholic Aid rosary following at 7:30 pm. Visitation also continues one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday, April 16, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Burial is beside her husband at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Munich, MN.
Pallbearers are Ken Ley, Donald Roering, Darwin Roering, James Forster, Ron Koopmeiners, and Bob Feldewerd. Honorary pallbearers are the Christian Mothers Society.
Arrangements are by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
