Voni Frisch

Voni Frisch, age 61, of Osakis died unexpectedly on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Long Prairie Hospital in Long Prairie, MN.
Voni Kathleen Proctor was born on October 5, 1953 in Mason City, IA to Vernon and Helen (Avery) Proctor. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1972. After school, Voni worked at various manufacturing and health care jobs. On August 15, 1975 she was united in marriage to Larry Frisch in Mason City. They made their home there. In addition to raising her own child, Voni continued her education and got a teaching degree in elementary education from Northern Iowa University in Cedar Falls. The Frisch's left Mason City in 1994 when they purchased the Sun-Fish Resort on Lake Osakis. Off season, she first worked at Young People's Place and later for Bremer Bank. Voni didn't find her true calling, or niche in life, until the Osakis Public School hired her as a Title 1 Aide. There she really enjoyed assisting students in the classroom and mentoring other groups of younger students. Voni was a member at Osakis Lutheran Church and also belonged to the Lake Osakis Resort Association.
Material objects meant nothing to Voni. It was the love of family and friends that was most important to her. Voni had an effervescent personality and could walk into a room and cheer everyone up without even trying. Her laughter was contagious. One of Voni's passions was reading. She loved to read and belonged to a book club. Voni also enjoyed watching movies and getting out on the lake, either sunfish fishing or taking a leisurely pontoon ride or just sitting outside watching a sunset. She loved her family and was happiest spending time with them and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and friends and by those whose life she touched.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Larry Frisch of Osakis; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie & Dan Finnegan of Osakis; 2 grandchildren, Makayla and Thomas; a sister, Vada (Erling) Myli of Kensett, IA; a brother, Kurt (Lori) Proctor of Eldridge, IA; and a brother-in-law, George Dokken, also of Kensett.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Vicky Dokken.
Memorial services will be held for Voni on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Fitzer officiating. Organist is Vicki Hinrich. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
