Wayne Jake Roquette was born on September 30, 1942, in Alexandria, MN to Clifford and Ruth Roquette. He lived on a farm near Osakis until he was 3 years old until the family moved to Long Prairie. He graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1960. Wayne attended a trade school in Winnipeg, Canada where he focused on Diesel Mechanics.
Wayne was united in marriage to Sharyn Mickelson at the Osakis First Presbyterian church on June 23, 1963. Wayne and Sharyn moved to Minneapolis after they were married and started a family of their own. In 1972, they moved to St. Michael where they were blessed with three children: Kevin, Jill and Rita. Wayne worked at Dana Corporation in production control from 1965 to 2001.Wayne retired in 2001 and in 2002, he and Sharyn moved up to Osakis.
Wayne loved being with family, especially the vacation trips they took together. He loved animals, especially his faithful Papillon dogs and little Reba who had him wrapped around her little paw. Wayne was active at the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher and as an Ice Breaker. He enjoyed reading a variety of western novels, especially Louis Lamore books. He also had a deep purple passion for the Minnesota Vikings! Wayne enjoyed pheasant hunting with his son, brothers, and many nephews each fall. He loved going to the casino, fishing, playing horseshoe and playing cribbage with his brother, Roger. Wayne is survived by his three children; Kevin (Rosalie) Roquette of Osakis, Jill (Todd) Holte of Osakis and Rita (Dan) Vetsch of Monticello; 9 grandchildren: Kyle, Kailey, Danielle, Nicholas, Katherine, Tiffany, Jon, Constance and Sabrina; 7 great-grandchildren: Hope, Stormie, Greyson, Vincent, Kamila, Adeline and William; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Sharyn, parents; Clifford and Ruth, brother, Roger; and infant great-granddaughter, Violet Holte.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Osakis. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
