November 18, 1926 — July 10, 2012

Wilma Heid, age 85 of Belle River Township, Douglas Co., went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from her home.
Wilma Anna Reuther was born to Paul and Martha (Hoger) Reuther at home on the family farm near Center, North Dakota on November 18, 1926. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young woman of seventeen, Wilma married Roy Heid on June 20, 1944 in Miles City, Montana. From this union, six children were born. They farmed in New Salem, North Dakota until the spring of 1959 when they moved to a farm near Nelson, MN. In addition to helping on the farm and raising her family, Wilma worked in retail sales and waitressing before starting a job on the assembly line at the 3M Company in Alexandria. Wilma worked in the labeling department and also did sanding belt assembly. She worked at 3M for over 21 years before her retirement in 1989. Soon after retiring, the Heid's began wintering in Raymondville, TX, where Wilma began doing volunteer work at the Child Protection Services. She also gave of her time with the Gateway Musicians, who entertained the residents at the Retonia retirement home near the Gateway RV Park where they lived. In 2006, she was even crowned the queen of the Mardi Gras Parade at the park. She served as treasurer and secretary for the Gateway club for a couple of years, as well as secretary for the Gateway Musicians for six years. Other past times Wilma enjoyed included crafting, gardening and traveling. She had a great love for people but also enjoyed the smallest of God's creatures, feeding birds and animals wherever she lived.
Wilma was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carlos, MN. She served on the church board for three years, was a Sunday School teacher and also led a Bible study for many years. She was active in the Ladies Aid and helped on the Hospitality committee for eight years.
