The history of Roy-Hetland Funeral Home dates back to the 1940s, when John and Alpha Hanson transformed an 1800s farmhouse into a funeral parlor. Sherman and Sarah Larson purchased the funeral home in the early 1950s and then, upon relocating, sold the business to Bill Roy and his wife, Mary, in 1956. After his retirement in 1981, Bill sold the funeral home to his son-in-law, Dana Hetland. Dana and Ginger Hetland operated the family business for over thirty years until they transitioned ownership to Vertin (Tom Vertin) in 2021.
To best meet the needs of area families, Roy-Hetland is supported by Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory in neighboring Alexandria. This partnership allows for seamless sharing of staff and resources.
Roy-Hetland Funeral Home is proud to continue their legacy of providing compassionate funeral care to Osakis and the surrounding area, now and far into the future.
